Game of Throws was designed as a simple, yet stunning beginner project. It’s aimed to be a good second or third project for beginning quilters, or a quick weekend project for more advanced quilters. The original design was 70” x 70” which is a good size to curl under on the couch for a nap, or with another person to watch a movie. It’s big enough to cover a full grown adult laying on a bed, but not quite as big as a bed quilts. The name is reminiscent of a popular book- and television series, but only because I think this pattern is the ultimate throw pattern. But after you make it, how do you quilt it? Well, here’s some ideas!
First some Pantographs for the long-arm machine, then some free-hand ideas I came up with.

After the series, where the wolf is the Crest of one of the major families, this wolf design from Urban Elements is a good choice.
I like the geometric style of this Pantograph. I like the diamonds alternating with the little circles and think it accents the pattern nicely.
This design features swoops, swirls and diamonds that I just think looks regal, like something you’d see in the palace.

If you want something more custom, this design that I drew mimics the arrow/chevron shapes of the quilt. I especially love the tiny triangles inside each HST, and those little chevron shapes that look like smiles make me happy.

In this design, the chevrons have straight lines, but the entire background and border is just a simple meander. This allows the shapes to really shine.

Game of Throws comes in 3 different sizes (so far). The smallest size can be 40” square with no borders or 56” with the borders. The middle size can be 60” with no borders or 75” with borders. These patterns are essentially the same, just with different size blocks. The Large size has 2 added chevrons on the top and bottom to transform it into a rectangle. It can be 62x78 with no borders or Twin size (75x90”) with the borders.
A smaller, block size, and a larger Queen/King size are both in the works!
